SVM asks Goa Police to file FIR on CAG's SEZ report

The Comptroller and Auditor Generals(CAG) report seems to have come like a shot in the arm for the SEZ Virodhi Manch who has now demanded that the Goa Police should immediately register an FIR against those involved in the SEZ scam.

The SEZ report has severely exposed the irregularities to the allotment of land to special economic zones which also resulted in a loss of nearly 37 crore to the government of Goa.

Urging the Goa police not to delay on the matter the SVM also demanded that all GIDC officers who are involved in the facilitation of the fraud should be suspended and prosecuted for the crimes while also seeking action against companies and the government authorities who manipulated the process of getting approval for the SEZs in Goa.

Lamenting that the government of Goa is only paying lip service to the opposition raised by Goans to the SEZ fraud and is obviously seeking to make a fool out of Goans who have vehemently opposed the SEZs, the complaints which have been filed at various police stations against the fraudulent process of application and allotment of land to SEZ has still seen no action whatsoever.

The SVM who is expected to meet the governor to seek his help in furthering the cause, has warned that if there is no FIR registered against the perpetrators of the crime, they will start a series of protests and agitations as well as awareness campaigns to intensify their concerns.
