Goans to get voting details on cellphones

Technology is continuously making inroads into the Indian electoral system and this time around voters in Goa will be able to avail of a free automated, short message service(SMS) system from which Goans can get their part number, constituency and name on the mobile phone.

The North Goa returning officer informed that any voter in the north who knows his EPIC ( electoral photo Identity card) number, but does not know the part number should sms his EPIC number to 9422415587. In reply, the voter will get a return SMS with the required details. The SMS service is currently launched for the 4,695 poll personnel in north Goa and is expected to be introduced in South Goa soon.
