Goans who have done Goa proud with their efforts in various walks of life are on course for due recognition, thanks to an ambitious proposal from the Chief Minister of Goa, Mr Digambar Kamat who announced the "Gomant Vibhushan" award which would be awarded from next year to meritorious Goans who make Goa proud with their contribution both at the national level as well as the international stage.
The Chief Minister explained that the award would not be restricted to personalities from certain fields but would cover all fields, be it sports, art, culture, literature, science etc.
The modalities of the award are expected to be worked out by the department of art and culture and by next year the new recognition in the form of the "Gomant Vibhushan" award will be conferred upon the adjudicated recipient.
