Hardly has the dust settled on the bill which was introduced in the Goa assembly by his political rival Mr Aleixo Reginald Lourenco , a couple of weeks ago, Mr Sardinha the congress candidate for the coveted South Goa parliamentary seat has begun his election campaign by tickling the customary passion attached to Bull fights among many Goans down south.
Mr Sardinha has now suggested that should he be re-elected back to the Parliament from South Goa, he would endeavour to apportion funds from the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme for setting up a bull fighting arena in Goa.
Expressing his happiness at the bill introduced in the assembly to legalise bullfights in Goa, Mr Sardinha said that he would bring funds to build the bullfighting arena but also informed that the state government would have to identify and acquire suitable land for the purpose.
Mr Sardinha had introduced a bill in the Parliament to legalise bullfights. However the bill will lapse upon the dissolution of the Lok Sabha, to which Mr Sardinha retorted that he would re-introduce it in the first session of the new Parliament, if he is elected.
