The "Maharaja", a new casino entered the river Mandovi as the sixth floating Casino to be hosted in the state of Goa on Tuesday evening.
Regarded as one of the biggest floating casinos in south east Asia, the Maharaja has four decks out of which three are dedicated to casinos. The "Maharaja" however awaits permission with some formalities to be cleared and is hopeful to begin operations within 15-20 days.
The upper deck of the casino is slated to have a la carte restaurant with food and beverages, besides entertainment.
The vessel is being floated by the Essel group, promoters of the Playwin lottery in India and has been undergoing refurbishment in getting ready for the grand occasion of emerging as Goa's sixth floating Casino.
Goa is the only state in the country which permits both land and off shore casinos. The Caravela, was the first casino to have taken the plunge in Goan waters years back thus beginning a gambling spot in Goan waters,followed by five more players in the same arena
